Nesting tables models 780/783 by Frattini

A selection of vintage furniture curated by MØBBLE and on display in-store.

Produced by Cassina in 1968, these nesting tables (models 780/783), designed by Gianfranco Frattini, are among the most iconic creations of late 1960s Italian design.
A leading figure in Milanese design, Frattini developed a rigorous approach in which the quality of construction and the accuracy of proportions took precedence over any decorative effect. His work, deeply influenced by architecture, is distinguished by a discreet and timeless elegance.

The 780/783 model perfectly illustrates this philosophy. Comprising three small tables that slot together with precision, they offer remarkable versatility. When joined, they form a compact, monolithic volume, almost sculptural in nature. When unfolded, they become versatile side tables whose simple geometry retains all its modernity more than fifty years after their creation.
The tabletop is reversible, with one side featuring a black background and the other an off-white background. A subtle feature that offers two aesthetic interpretations of the piece.

Made from wood and laminate, these early editions reflect the era’s taste for radical forms and innovative functional solutions.
Their sleek silhouette fits just as naturally into a contemporary interior today as it does in a more eclectic setting.

In very good vintage condition, with a few subtle signs of wear consistent with their age.
