Reflex 45/75 Raf Simons cushion

The exclusive Kvadrat/Raf Simons collections bring together the Belgian designer's vision and Danish textile craftsmanship: cushions in vibrant colours and exceptional materials.

Reflex's bold stripes spring from the textile's flat-woven base. The areas defining the 10 cm-wide stripes appear to have been embroidered with a slightly irregular yarn.

This rich, soft woollen yarn lets the base colour partly show through the weave, giving the colour a sense of depth and complexity. The result is a wide, sharp-edged stripe that is both strongly graphic and highly tactile.

Designer Raf Simons drew on many sources of inspiration to create the Reflex stripe: the festive, nautical stripes of the upholstery fabric used on the Poltrona Seggiovia chair, designed by Franco Albini in 1940; Daniel Buren's use of stripes in his architectural works; and the long tradition of wide stripes in haute couture.
The cushion comes with a feather insert.
