This bistro table, with its understated and functional design, was made to measure by a local joiner during the fitting out of a Swiss mountain restaurant in 1984, to complement the iconic Bruno Rey chairs. It perfectly captures the warm, practical aesthetic of 1980s Alpine interiors.
Its pink melamine-coated beech top contrasts elegantly with its black steel base by OPO Oeschger SA, a Swiss company specialising in furniture fittings and components since 1926. The piece exudes a presence that is at once minimalist, robust and delicately retro.
Designed for convivial use, this table comfortably seats four guests, or even six if required. It shows some signs of wear on the legs and the edge of the top, bearing witness to its history and authenticity. A unique piece, blending vintage institutional furniture with Swiss postmodernist design.
